So after completing the bike, I decided I would like to hire a hot model and take the bike into the studio. So I booked a local studio that could take a bike and hired a few models for the 1st of March. Unfortunately, we had bad snow that day so 2 models couldn’t make it. But lucky for me, my friend still could, as she wanted some pics herself. So here we are. Enjoy them.Read More →

Welcome back to another adventure This adventure across the green isle was a little different. This time I had my partner in tow as pillion! This time I decided to video the road trip and make a documentary on the journey, so I hope you will enjoy the below videos. We started the trip with the bike in pieces the night before. About a week earlier it wouldn’t fire correct, and would only rev poorly and sounded like 3 cylinders only were working. I stripped the bike down, carbs off, cleaned them out as they were blocked with a dissolved foam air pre-filter. The carbRead More →

The Story It comes to a point in time where you are no longer able to buy parts for your bikes. In this case my 1986 Honda CB350 SG I could no longer buy the airbox rubbers. This became a problem when I tried to reinstall the airbox onto the carbs and was unable to with out the aid of 2 other people and a lot of swearing, sweat, and tears. The Process After a lot of attempts to get them soft, which included boiling them, using a hair dryer and WD40 some more permanent was required as these were fine until you had toRead More →

Finishing off I completed most of the last parts without taking any images, but I basically replaced the headlight and bolted the bodywork on. One thing I did realize is when testing the indicators. The flash rate was way too fast. However in Honda’s infinite wisdom, they decided to use a micro 3 pin harness which meant I could not swap out with a normal flasher relay, so this is still working in progress. But this time I was two days away from its first MOT since 2012 I booked this to give myself the motivation to complete in time. To get around this IRead More →

Ready Steady Paint! So while the brakes were being sorted I was also painting the ancillaries between bleeding and swearing. The carbs were split down as far as I could, all the oil and grease cleaned off and brackets removed for a lick of paint. I decided to use my old carbs, as I knew these worked and thought this would give me a head start, and then later working of a full strip and rebuild and paint of the spare set of carbs I own. I painted the caps, top and bottom bracket, as well as the cable holder in the bright red paint,Read More →

Shiney Shiney’s Well after the engine was completed, I ordered a few more bags of stainless bolts and an oil filter for it so we can get it back together fully, and looking pretty good. New fuel hose ordered, however, this was the wrong diameter, so I had to reorder the correct size.  A trip to John Oldfield Honda was also completed, not expecting him to everything I needed for the next part I was shocked to find he had it on the shelve. So I managed to pick up the Brake boots, Felt dust seal and rubber washer for the rear brake drum andRead More →

And now to the present. The 350 had been sat in the shed for a long while. I bought another bike an XJ600 and this was my main project for the last couple of years. I decided to cut my losses and get rid of that. Over the Christmas period, I decided to fix the Pan up (this will be up soon) and once this was out of the shed I then decided to find out if the engine ran for it. It had been sat outside covered, however, it kept getting uncovered and I did keep turning the engine over by hand. On thisRead More →

It was time to get back to some painting of various pieces and fitting things back together. New bearing where fitted to the wheels and the old sprocket carrier was given a massive clean and touch up along with the oil cooler pipes and the exhaust fittings. The rear shocks were given a clean and polish to make more presentable. And new HT leads were made out and mounted on the coil. I then painted up the coil mount and mated the two together. Forks painted and mounted to the front of the frame. Rear light fitting cleaned and painted with new mini indicators fitted.Read More →

Honda CB350 SG Full Rebuild – The first stages

The first stages of this project are to strip down the old bike. The wheels were off at the powder coaters getting ready for the final bike and this left a shell of a bike on my drive.   The wires were labeled so I can remember where they go upon the rebuilding process. and the engine was drained for removal from the frame after much persuasion. After a short while, I retrieved the frame and wheels back from the powder coaters and had the tires re attached to them. The frame was looking good, despite some corrosion along the sear mount area.   AllRead More →

Welcome to my Honda CB350 SG Project (1986) This is an ongoing Project and I Will be adding to my blog posts, as and when I get time to complete updates. Some Background; I bought this little beast in the winter of 2011 as I hadn’t owned a bike for almost 2 years, I was on the verge of losing almost 8 years no claims bonus. I decided it was cheaper to buy a cheap bike to insure than to lose all my NCB. I spotted this bike while on my travels at the local breakers shop and stopped and took a look, and placedRead More →
